Hello Dear Sisters!
Time just seems to fly by. I find it hard to believe that we are almost
through February. It has been a month of traveling, pivoting to zoom meetings when the
weather ‘goes south’, visiting chapters and enjoying the fellowship of members around the
state. I will find out this week if I get my computer back or if I purchase another one; it has been
with the Geek Squad for almost a month. I did put Zoom on my tablet, and I have been able to
participate in zoom meetings, SO….I would love to have Chapter President Zoom meetings
again in March. As soon as I can schedule them, I will send out an email with the links. I know
that we are trying to keep Tuesday Evening at 6 pm and Saturday Morning at 10 am; however, I
have a Religious Ed retreat on March 12th, and right now it is from 9 until 2…I may have to
schedule it for later in the day OR just absent myself for a while from the training…as I am not
the only one who will be involved.
As we move from pandemic to endemic, I notice that fewer masks are being worn,
people are socializing more, and there seems to be an air of laissez-faire. I wear masks when I
sub (double in elementary school) because I want to stay safe. We will continue to have masks
and hand sanitizer available at the Board Meetings as we don’t know who has a weakened or
compromised immune system. Please remember that we are all doing the best that we can.
Progress is being made as far as the Summer Leadership Conference; the theme is:
“Empowered women empowering others”. As we nail down the details, they will be made
available on the website. I hope to have some details to present at the Spring Board Meeting
on March 19th. Believe me when I say that we are going outside of the box in several wonderful
ways, and we can use this Summer Leadership to interest potential members as well. This is
also the time when Chapter Officers are being selected/elected/appointed/bribed(?) into taking
office. It is imperative that officers plan on attending Summer Leadership; we are looking at a
virtual option, but there isn’t anything quite like ‘being there’ in person to feel the energy and
make the connections. I have felt very welcomed by the staff at Northeastern Junior College in
Sterling, and I am confident that the Executive Committee is putting together a wonderful and
enriching schedule. Our International Guest is Trish Woodley, the International Membership
Chair, and I know that you will enjoy her as much as I do; she is warm, friendly, funny and
incredibly knowledgeable. She will be giving us an International Update Monday as well as the
Banquet Keynote on Tuesday night. I am sure that she will also drop in on workshops.
As you can see, it has been a busy time since the New Year. I hope that this message
finds you happy, healthy and hopeful. Stay strong and stay safe.
Suzanne
