As I sit here, my mind refuses to ignore the checklist for the holidays. It is amazing to
me how stressed we all become when we try to meet everyone’s needs and have the perfect
Christmas/ Hannukah/Kwanza...you understand what I am saying. During my biennium, I have
encouraged all of my Colorado DKG Sisters to be kind to others and to yourselves. Please
remember to embrace self care as we move into 2023.
I have been blessed this month with two Chapter visits; Alpha Rho in Greeley on the 3rd
and Alpha Beta in West Denver on the 10th; I really enjoyed catching up with Sisters I hadn’t
seen in a while such as Vangie Sena, Esther Romero and Beth Barzdukas. I talked about the
Spring Board meeting in Longmont and the State Convention in La Junta; I am trying to get the
word out that we will have a wonderful time at both events; but there will also be Society
Business to take care of as well. My home chapter, Alpha Chi, will host its Holiday
Extravaganza this coming week. Yes, I will be there with my Christmas Jeopardy board, prizes
and a White Elephant gift. Three different DKG parties; all heartfelt and magical.
Plans are progressing for the Spring Board meeting. Susan Burnett, Laura Lewis and the
MU chapter are working hard to provide a wonderful space, great hotel prices and food. Details
will be coming after the holidays, and The Call will be on the website and forwarded to all
Chapter Presidents and Team Leaders as well as the Executive Board. Please remember, if
you as a Chapter President or Team Leader cannot attend a Board meeting, please send a
representative to vote in your place. The Spring Board meeting is Saturday, March 18, 2023.
The State Convention is also shaping up; Phi and Alpha Alpha are working hard to
provide a wonderful experience. We will be meeting on the Otero College Campus, but we are
also hoping to have a Monday night event. We are thinking out of the box as far as scheduling
during the week and as soon as possible after school gets out so that more members can
attend, and not interfere with family vacations/summer school/trips. The DKG 2023 Convention
is scheduled for June 5,6,7 2023; mark your calendars.
To the incoming/repeating officers of the Executive Board; the International training is
scheduled for the end of June in Dallas. I have forwarded the information to you. I will also be
a part of the planning committee (via zoom) for the 2023 Leadership Conference in Phoenix. I
have also volunteered Colorado DKG chapters to provide Door Prizes—smaller bags with either
homemade items, gift cards, or small themed gifts—I will be giving more information as I get it.
Check the website, and expect a lot more details at the Spring Board meeting.
Finally, I will be adding to, and re-sending my Chapter visitation list to all Chapter
Presidents. There are still a few Chapters I am waiting to hear from to schedule, and as you
know, my goal is to visit you all before the end of my biennium. I know this is a lot of
information, digest it as best you can.
In closing, however you spend the holidays, be happy, be healthy, be kind to yourself
and to others. Blessings and here’s to a wonderful 2023.
