Suzanne’s March-April Message
Holy Moly!! We are almost at the end of March, and there is still so much to do....I will
tell you all that I am encouraged by the number of members at the Spring Board Meeting–61!!
Thanks again to Mu Chapter for finding us an amazing space, providing beverages and snacks
for the day as well as some wonderful door prizes! And, we did finish ahead of the scheduled
time so that everyone could get home before dark/safely.
We did pass the action item from Personnel/Bylaws and Standing Rules concerning
Term Limits for the State Treasurer, Executive Secretary, Webmaster and Editor. Thank you to
Dr. Sue Petit and the Personnel Team for the interviews and the tweaking of the evaluations for
those positions and to Sue Denny, True Morgan and the Bylaws and Standing Rules Team for
their perseverance in wording/editing the document that Susan went through with us at the
Spring Board Meeting.
Ronda Collette, Lilly Vigil and Cela Varosy presented an update to the
Finance/Scholarship Teams work that was recommended at the Fall Board Meeting. All Chapter
Presidents and Team Leaders received the minutes/summary and the five questions to discuss
with members. I would ask all of you to please discuss these questions as those discussions
will drive what we, as a State Organization, will do. I am also thrilled that Lilly and Cela will
continue to work together to uncover the Scholarship dollar amounts that have been awarded;
they have found some discrepancies and are working together to have a comprehensive final
document. Thank you for the time and the effort.
I feel that I have been spoiled as your State President because I have women in
positions whom I trust implicitly; time and time again, they have stepped up/stepped forward and
completed tasks that I could never do on my own. As Chapter Members, all of you should try to
attend a State Board Meeting, a Conference or a Convention so that you can see/experience
the magic that happens when we work together to create/problem solve/learn/make Colorado
DKG the best organization it can be.
Plans for the Convention are moving forward as well: We have meal options taking
place; we have a little more information on the Monday tour of Old Bent Fort; we are working on
our guest speakers and the breakaway sessions that will break up our General Sessions. The
Membership Team is working hard on the Ceremony of Remembrance; MAHE is going to have
a choir!!--details to follow....as you can see, we will have an amazing Convention. Details will
be sent to Chapter Presidents/Executive Committee/Team Leaders and will be posted on the
weebly website.
Oh, we did have an option for virtual attendance at the Spring Board meeting; while we
only had two members take advantage, we also had some technical challenges. There was a
question about virtual attendance for the General Sessions at Convention; we will need to work
on that a bit and get back to everyone.
I will end with a couple of requests: I have asked that each chapter provide a door prize
item for the International Conference in Phoenix, AZ; I accepted the duty of gathering door
prizes, and I hope that every chapter will bring/send something to “bag” at Convention; I will
have a couple different sizes of red gift bags, tissue paper and note cards to identify what is in
each of the bags. Please remember that most of the ladies will be traveling, so we don’t want
anything too large. The Colorado DKG ladies who are going to the International Conference will
be taking the bags down to Phoenix with them. I also received a request from the ladies
hosting the International Conference in Detroit: those ladies are creating a 50 state DKG
cookbook, and would Colorado members send any special/amazing recipes. Please forward
those recipes to me at [email protected] by April 25th, and I will forward them. If you
want to add a couple lines about why the recipe is special, by all means, please do so.
Remember that I am a phone call/text/email away, and that I will get back to you within
24 hours. Thank you all for the reading, for your trust and for being you. Remember to be kind
to yourself and others. Finally, Happy Spring! Happy Easter! Happy Passover! Blessings!!
