Happy Spring!!! I hope that those of you who are actively teaching got a bit of rest over your Spring Break. My biggest and best news is that the piles of snow around my Granby home have pretty much melted! There is still a small glacier in the back yard and at the shady part of the house, but we can see lawn! We can see to back out of the drive way both in front of the house and in the back behind the garage!! Whoohoo!!
We had some lovely and lively discussion at the Spring Board Meeting concerning the ‘bundles of amendments’ that will be considered at the International Convention. We decided to blog/text/email other states to get some feedback AND, to that end, Janis Barr, our SW Regional Director, has invited me, and anyone else who is interested, to be a part of a Zoom meeting on April 15th at 5 pm Pacific (6 pm Mtn) time. There has evidently been a lot of discussion/concerns/questions about some of the items, and Janis specifically referred me to the combination of the Golden Gift amendment—it failed last time, unfortunately, because there were misunderstandings about what the amendment meant. It’s back this time around, and honestly, as Dr. Sue Petit said, we need to listen to all perspectives with open minds and hearts as well as closed mouths so that we can get all of the perspectives. I will send out the specific invitation to the Zoom meeting to Chapter Presidents, officers and the Executive Board as soon as I have it.
Speaking of Zoom meetings, I am starting the monthly Chapter President Zoom meetings again this month. I will schedule a Tuesday meeting for 6 pm, and a Saturday meeting for 10 am. I am aiming for the 2nd Tuesday and Saturday; however, if I can’t get those times, I will aim for the 3rd Tuesday or Saturday. Thanks to those who have already forwarded their new officers lists; get these to me, to Heidi Ragsdals and to Cela Varosy as soon as you can so that we can update our information as well. Cela is working on the Directory, and Heidi and I will add/subtract names from my Presidents’ email list and contact sheet and update information on the website.
Information for the 2022 Summer Leadership Conference is almost ready to roll out!! We are meeting in Sterling, Colorado and Northeastern Junior College, and rooms are set aside at the Sterling Holiday Inn. I will be sending the info to Heidi to post on the website as soon as it’s ready, and I will be sending the info to Chapter Presidents as well. We are going to have a one day special fee for Prospective Members Only which will include the box lunch that day. A lot of information will be coming your way in the next couple weeks, so please be aware of that and check your email and the state website.
I will be visiting the following chapters this month: Pi (4/8); Alpha Iota,Omega and Zeta at their Tri Chapter Luncheon (4/9); Kappa for their Installation of New Officers (4/11); Alpha Chi (4/21) and finally, Alpha Mu (4/29). Due to religious education events, graduations and travel, I haven’t scheduled any visits in May; obviously, June will be busy due to Summer Leadership and July will be busy because of the International Convention in New Orleans. I will be in touch with the chapters I have yet to visit once my family schedule is confirmed. As many of you know, I will be traveling to AZ more to oversee my 91 year old Mom’s care when my sister and her husband travel. Everything is still up in the air, but I will be as transparent as I can be as things develop. Thank you for your patience, support and understanding. Happy Spring! Happy Easter! Happy Passover!
